Well folks, I am just now settling in by pool area on another beautiful evening to post our blog. The ocean has its own beauty at nightfall....no wonder so many have fallen in love at the beach! But, I digress....and it is 1:00 AM. Now this may sound late to all of you, but it is fairly typical of what chaperons go through on these trips. Our youth are bedded down, but there are always loose ends for us to pick up before we turn in. Mine just happens to be this blog. I will say that having traveled many times with many youth groups....nothing compares with the work ethic, growth, satisfaction, learning, and shear joy I observe with our youth and their leaders. We expect an awful lot from our church leadership...and they deliver in so many ways beyond our expectation and knowledge. Perhaps you will find your own ways to say thank you...I know I plan to figure out my own creative ways to let them know how much they are loved and appreciated.
What a day! It started innocently enough with plenty of time to enjoy the ocean, pool, and other amenities, but by 11:15 all fun and games were placed behind us as we traveled and performed two very full concerts today. Upon arrival of concert number two, Kendel informed me that there was a red battery light that had come on. (By the way, this was my truck...we needed a bigger truck to handle the trailer and luggage we were carrying.) Long story short....Kendel and I were able to negotiate very heavy traffic using his excellent map skills and secured a new alternator for the truck. By the time the concert ended, we had installed the alternator successfully thanks to some long distance directions from Jimmy Little.
From here we rushed to see the amazing circus (very European and high tech). Despite Mr. G's ability to get us lost several times today...we made it to Hard Rock for a late, but energetic dinner...and finally home again.
Unfortunately, I was unable to shoot many photos...but I am going to try and post some movies for you to see...which will be a first for our blog. So, now I lay me down to sleep....nope....gotta work on the photos and movies....sleep will have to wait. Please know that all are doing well and NO SUNBURNS....yet!
