Forgive the lack of a blog post last night. Our internet speed was slow, and we have this morning as free time so I felt it was better to blog then. Thus ...
Tuesday was a full day. A bright spot from the beginning was the staff of the hotel asking us to sing for them again. Some of them have kind of adopted us!
Our mission work with Central Baptist continued. Our lot-cleaning crew did an amazing amount of work as you can see in some of the photos. Emma & Alex are the queens of dragging the tarp of stuff to the road, and their pile is getting quite large! If that whole music thing doesn't work for him, Peter and a few others have careers as lumberjacks already planned. Paige and her crew installed ceiling tiles, and they learned that's hot, dirty work. Those youth have a much greater appreciation for our Facilities Team for doing that on a regular basis! They did a great job in a tough room where almost every piece had to be custom cut to fit!
Our afternoon concerts were quite touching. In the first, one lady was moving her shoulders and tapping her feet to the the choir. Afterwards, she told Kendell, "I'm not supposed to move like that after my shoulder surgery, but with music like that you just can't help it." The folks at the second concert said no one had ever offered hem a concert before. They gave the choir a tearful standing ovation at the end of the concert.
One issue of prayer or everyone. We got quite hot, especially in the second concert, and several of the youth had to sit out because of heat. No one passed out, but we had several that needed to move to a cool room. Mama Kay took good care of them and Kendell got them Gatorade. As the dancing on our evening cruise proved, all of them are OK, but please remember us. You'd think we'd get hotter from our work outside, but concerts can be hard work!
Our evening was great: A buffet dinner and then cruise at the Dolphin View Restaurant at New Smyrna Beach. We did get to see dolphins in the Halifax River! We had a great time, and the choir sang Bonse Aba from the top deck. It was wonderful to see how many others on the boat pulled out their phones to video them singing!
At one concert, while the choir was singing He is the Everlasting God, one resident staring pointing up and a big smile on her face. Everything we did yesterday was to proclaim He is an Everlasting God. Amen.
