Today was filled with anticipation as we returned to the Street Reach Mission for more work and another concert. Would we continue to encounter God as we joined Him in his work? It was the last concert on the road for the seniors, so tonight we celebrate their accomplishments and take time to speak directly with them.

Yes, back to Street Reach Mission for another round of the same projects we worked with yesterday. Even so, our youth jumped in with tremendous enthusiasm and I must admit their creativity and sense of humor abounded! Some of our youth were even involved in the food preparation. We unloaded all the handbells and prepared to give them a concert they would not soon forget. I must say that all of our church handbell choirs are outstanding in their on right. Our youth played their heats out and the response from the audience at Street Reach was the most heartfelt of all our concerts. GOD IS GREAT!
From Street Reach we headed for Heritage Place to perform an outdoor concert due to lack of room inside. This was a FULL concert including bells, and YES...it was hot. The tiredness certainly registered on our faces while setting up and waiting....but once the music began we were on top of our game again. Again, as we looked into the faces of our audience we saw...stories!
For the rest of the evening it was fun and games as we traveled to the heart of Myrtle Beach for Ripley's and then off to Broadway at the Beach for dinner and SHOPPING! My team (The Flying Monkeys) chose to dine in style at Caprize...a really nice upscale Italian Restaurant. Just ask Mattie or any of the Middle School Guys (aka...the Flying Monkeys) and they will fill you in on our amazing culinary adventure.
We decided to wait traffic out after the fireworks by having devotions on the bus. This was a solum occasion as we had our time to address the many positive contributions of this group of seniors. The seniors had their turn to address us, and finally the chaperons got their chance. I decided to pass (a very rare thing for me) as I was a bit emotional and I knew I had this blog where I could write more coherent thoughts. So here goes:
Mr. G's Final Thoughts for our Seniors:
Some of you once were my students at Rankin School. Others of you I have grown to know through the years in our church. All of you have become very special to me in our youth activities at our church. Thank you for having a positive impact on my life and the lives of others in our church and community. One school is now finished...and another begins. Go forth and do great things!
I leave you with one of my very favorite scripture passages:
8 He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.
--Micah 6:8 New International Version (NIV)--
Grace and Peace,
Mr. G
